Man has it been a long day but I am excited about tomorrow.
We got up around 7am after about 4 hours of sleep(stayed up too late playing the slots, losing as usual). We did our flight to San Diego and was picked up at the Airport by Miguel. He was very really nice and was helpful to get us loaded and on our way.
The drive to the Border wasn’t too bad, typical Californian traffic/drivers. Once we hit Tijuana, things seem to change. Road signs and lane lines seemed to be just rough guidlines and not stead-fast rules…. Don’t get me wrong, I have heard lots of complaining about my driving over the years, it just seem different when you are a passenger.
Once we got to the Hospital Angeles, we were introduced to some very nice ladies that got all of our paperwork in order and started poking and proding us doing the normal routines you would expect to ensure one is OK for surgery. Oh, and some good news. Their scale shows I am actually down 4 pounds. I know all scales are a little different, but I am taking this weight and just assuming my scale was lying to me the entire time over the past two weeks.
The negative for today was that it seemed to take hours to get everything done once we got to Dr. Kuri’s office. Actually it did take about 5 hours from the time we got there till the time we could go get something to eat. I was so hungry. I had a snack in my suitcase, but I (for some reason) decided not to eat it and was getting a bit grumpy. They also said my blood pressure was really high. Probably something to do with not sleeping or eating or the agrivation at the airline (stoopid spirit airline).I posted about that earlier today while I was at the aiport.
Anyway, I am at the clinic/surgery center now (will post pics once I get home). This place is pretty amazing. The first floor is a hotel. Not huge, but very nice. There is a common area that reminds me of the rehab shows with Dr. Drew on TV. There are a couple of couches in front of a big flatscreen TV, an outdoor courtyard, which also connects to my room. A kitchenette with several small tables for one to sit at and recouperate as well as a couple of laptops setup for people to use. I am using one now to post this. It is just a little easier to post with an actual computer than it is on my Iphone or Ipad.
The rooms are all super-nice with the exception of the beds, they seem a little small. Guess I am just used to my queen sized bed at home. Can’t wait to get back to it… I can go on and on, but I will need to post pics to really impress just how nice everything is. This is easily about 10 times better than the hotel we had in Vegas.
The next couple of floors are the surgery bays and recovery rooms. They have pictures of those on their website. I will link to them later as well.
It’s 7:30PM right now. I am just waiting to take the sleeping pill they gave me. They said I can take between 8 and 9pm, although I don’t think I will need it. I can already feel my eyelids getting heavier by the second. Although now that I think about it, I would probably be too anxious to actually sleep tonight if I don’t take the pill.
Hopefully, I will feel up to posting more after my surgery tomorrow. They say they want us up and about as soon as possible after the surgery to start the healing process.
